Preah Ko Temple is located in the compound of the ancient capital of Hariharalaya (in the area that today is called Roluos), now located in the middle between Bakong Temple and Lolei Temple about 13 kilometers from Siem Reap city.
This temple was built in the 9th century by King Indravarman I (877-889) dedicated to God Shiva in Brahmanism. This is also a temple built to honor to his parents and ancestors, especially King Jayavarman II and his wife.
Preah Ko Temple is named by the local people of later times after seeing three statues of Preah Ko in front of the three towers of this temple. In fact, this temple is called Srei Bormesvara in Sanskrit.
